Hello all.

I've just completed my first build and as soon as I go to press the power button...nothing happens. I was expecting this being that i could have missed a cable linking somewhere along the line.

Where would be the best place to start first? Could it be possible the the psu is doa?

Open to any and all suggestions, thank you!

plug it into the wall, flip the switch, press the power button :) you only have 2 cords you need to plug in to your mobo from the PSU, then its 1 fan connector on normal cpu cooler

Yes I have plugged it into the wall, flipped the switch, and pressed the power button and nothing happens. I have both the 8 pin and 24 pins connected.

ok, :) if nothing at all happens at this point, no fan spinning anywhere and NO lights the PSU is not delivering any power, also check the PSU fan to make sure, if thats not spinning either its dead

http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/42440-readme-how-to-respond-to-a-no-post-or-no-power-up-situation/ If you have tried this than you should rebuild it again following the manual

Ok if I were to rebuild should I start from the very beginning? Should i disassemble the mobo?

Check these and post back weather it helped or not

  • Start with checking weather PSU is working properly. (using another mobo)
  • make sure front panel headers (power & led)are fixed correctly (refer mobo manual)
  • make sure the front panel headers are not shorting each other in any way
  • check if the rams are properly jammed into place
  • check weather the mobo 4pin/8pin is connected
  • check weather you placed in the cpu with correct orrientation
  • remove and reattach every power cable (make sure 24 pins have all the pins usually 4 pin detaches itself in some cases)
  • make sure psu hasn't got a switch on it that is flipped to off position.
  • now try again (no hdd attached)
