Linus Tech Tips, Tech Quickie, Tech Linked channels hacked

betav17
Message added by Spotty,

The Linus Tech Tips, TechLinked, and TechQuickie Youtube channels have been restored.

A video explaining what happened is now up:

If anyone is brave enough to click on the scam links I have reported them with cloud flare so it displays a warning about phishing now. 🙂

This was the LTT channel itself after it got renamed to Tesla, then it became temp

I wasn't the one who posted what you quoted originally... I was quoting someone to reply to them, but somehow your post shows it as quoting me writing it directly. As I said though whatever the temp channel was it was terminated, which if it was the original channel having the name changed again that would make sense.

Whats more annoying than LTT getting hacked?

Seeing people use the (non) word "bruh" here every 3rd post

Try using big boy words....or go back to fricking Telegram and hang with the other insufferable millennials and gen z'ers

LMAO, my bad mate, the quoting system still is weird sometimes

I sometimes wonder how we went to space on only 4KB RAM, and we cannot fix a simple issue.

Is this the first time LTT is getting hacked?

I remember it happening once before a while back. Not the same tesla scam though. I think someone stole linus' SMS 2FA by getting the carrier to do a sim replacement.

The Cake is a Lie...

I have noticed that people are putting super chats in these scam live streams. I don't think this is a good idea given that they are giving out money to some random hacker, correct me if I am wrong.

super chats .png

for the hackers to get all donated money, they'd have to swap out the linked bank account in the channel's adsense for theirs. i doubt they'd be getting anything from this

They got a huge ass storage server, I think they do have the finished videos backed up. Also, YT can do a full recovery

And now that you mention it, indeed it was a very well imitated google acc (from what I can remember)

Yeah that sounds about right... That or a "youtube" email to "verify the channel" or something. I really don't remember and should've already gotten to bed hours ago, but noticed the channel got hacked right before laying down and ended up trying to see what was going on. Probably going to head to bed after this post. Hopefully everything works out for the LTT team!
