Should I upgrade to 4k or stay at 2k

Zendrith501

So I just built a new pc that should hopefully last me for quite some time. It's a 13900k and an aorus OC 4090. I currently have two VG27AQL1A monitors. I don't necessarily want to upgrade to a higher monitor if I don't need to. But am I leaving performance on the table if I stay at 2k? Or is this a situation where I have great quality and fps at a lower resolution compared to higher resolution with lower fps and quality?

1440p is still perfectly fine for that GPU. Just never drop to 1080p.

I wouldn't say you are leaving performance on the table. I think 1440p high refreshrate is a good compromise between resolution and framerate, even with a 4090.  I got a 1440p 165hz monitor and a 4080 and I want to stay with this monitor because the resolution is good and I will get high framerate going forwards with most games.  Its a good balance 🙂

.

you'd get 120fps+ with a 4090 even at 4k on most games, but without proper hdr it's just pixel density, the cheapest 4k miniled atm is ~800usd
