Red Dead Redemption 1 Xbox one X or emulation

There's no reason not to try emulation. Most emulators are free to use, and if you're satisfied you save yourself a significant amount of money. If it doesn't work out you can still buy the console.

So I've been meaning to play red dead redemption 1 and I'm a techie so I want the best possible experience. 1 option is I get and Xbox one x because I want to get a  4k Blu ray player and a used one wouldn't be much more. According to digital foundry that would give me 4k 30 fps with 16x texture filtering not bad but 30fps 😞

I was also thinking about emulation but I have heard that it's honestly still pretty rough. I would be down to try but I don't know if it's worth it or just go console. I have a

R7 3700x

16gb

Rx 6600xt

Would i even be able to do anything better then the Xbox one x or am I better of doing the easy way.

RPCS3 lists the 3700X in its B-Tier of cpus, which is described on the RPCS3 reddit as

B-Tier: Good performance. Plays every "Playable" title with ease, may lack performance in some "In-game" titles.

It has been a few months since I checked, but I'm not sure even 12900k could play the game without major bugs. Might also check the Xenia XBox 360 emulator. I would expect lots of bugs on either emulator though for the next few years. RDR will probably be one of the last games that gets moved to the "Playable" category in RPCS3.

I had a blast with it at 720p on XBox 360 which can drop into the 20s a lot of the time so I imagine playing a steady 4k30 fps on the Series X would be a great experience.
