Since the H220 isn't being sold in the US anymore, I need a cpu AIO cooler with similar cooling and expandability if I want to cool my gpu in the future. I would prefer 280mm, but 240mm is good too

h220x? excited  :o  :o

Have you seen how it looks like?

They've integrated a reservoir into the radiator...

The new CPU block is quite nice, though.

Not my cup of tea. I'll stick with my "regular" H220, thank you.

Ncix still has some http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=79583&vpn=H220&manufacture=Swiftech

Also keep in mind that the H220 i quieter than the Glacer 240L.

In case you get the 1/10 H220s who's pump is actually not broken. :D

who cares...

I got myself a H220 on a deal and the pump was bad. I googled it and there were hundrets of entrys and youtube videos about pump noise.

Aperrantly you have to mount the reservoir in one orientation only, to trap the air bubbles, which makes the H220 incompatible with my Define R4. And to bleed it successfully you have to open it up upon arrival and put more liquid in and bleed the system.

If you're lucky, the noise will go away. Tbh I'd say 1/3 H220s is faulty, so chances are actually pretty high to get a silent one right off the bat. :D

I too have a broken h220 pump.  Was good for a few months and then randomly died.  When I opened it up, there was a ton of plasticizer, but thank god Swiftech support is amazing.

so it isnt compatible with any r4?  :o

Partly. You have to use the off-centered mount of course. In a push configuration it's almost no problem. I say almost, because then the reservoir is mounted facing down (see picture), which it isn't intended to be mounted like. The air will get sucked into the pump all over again. So you actually have to mount it with the res. facing up (pull config). The problem is, that the radiator is bulkier than the fans, so it might interfer with your motherboard already.

I haven't tested it the correct mounting position (pull), because i was using bequiet shadow wings fans, which could only be mounted in push with the included screws.

I added two photos of my rig which aren't particularly beautiful but you can kinda see how tight it is. The close up one is with the top heat spreader of my mobo. The perspective is kinda bad, it's about 3 mm between the fan and the heatspreader.

Personal opinion: The H220 just isn't worth it. You could aswell stick to a H100i or a good air cooler (which i did) OR ofc go full custom. My initial plan was to use the H220 to cool my GPU later aswell but i flipped the plan and just went with air cooling. For my future GPU I'll probably use something like a Prolimatech MK-26 black edition

Edit: you could probably get away with it if you do some maintainance upon arival.

oh! thanks a lot!

i didnt know that. i think i am going to do a little research whether it's possible to mount it the other way around or even mount it in the front.

fractal should have really widened the top mesh with more mounting options then this wouldnt be a problem you have to worry about.  :(

i guess then i need to wait until i can figure something out for a custom loop.

It's really difficult to find much information about 240 mm AIOs in the R4, other than "it will fit". I think the Define R4 is too old, that's why Fractal Design didn't care too much about proper liquid cooling space. They added the option but not the intention.

who cares...

So what should I do then? Get the cooler master one?
