It might, depending on what happened.

 

I would boot a Live OS like a Linux (my favorite for doing stuff with disks is Parted Magic) and check the disk health.

Hiren's has tools for disk checking too.

It won't hurt, at least recover your files, but not sure it can fix it, unless you know specifically what's broken. Always do your backups.

However, you can do a Repair Install of Windows using a USB stick. When it asks what you want to do choose Upgrade In Place & then Repair Install.
