Hi,

I just built a new system and after it posted I saw that my cpu is running extremely hot idly. I have an i7 13700k cooled by an nzxt kraken 73 top mounted with three fans in exhaust. The liquid reads cooler than ambient but my cpu temps keep rising. I tried wiping and putting new thermal paste and reinstalling ther pump block, but I still have no luck with the cpu temps. I have used the smaller version of this cooler in the past and have had no problems before. Do you guys think it could be just a defective pump plate?

What's the thermal paste spread look like? What rpm is the pump running at?

Your pump don't work then (I suppose you see fans spinning..), either it's not connected properly or it's faulty

Yeah, I see fans spinning but I’m not sure if I hear the pump. It’s connected to my cpu fan header bc I’ll need a fan extension cable to reach my mobos dedicated pump header.

The spread looked even and since I don’t have the pump connected to its desicated header, I don’t see its rpm. Just the fans connected to the other headers. They’re running 1600 rpm

Errm the Z73 manual says the pump is SATA powered...

What's the pump header plugged into?

It is plugged into the sata but there’s also a 3 pin… not sure now

The 3pin is just for reporting rpm.

Check and make sure the sata cable is properly plugged in. If the psu modular, check both ends. You can also try another sata power cable.

I figured out the issue, I jammed the multi piun connection in the wrong way so the pump was not recieving power from the SATA connection. Thank you guys for all your advice and help. Have a great week!
