What do you think about this build?

Go to solution Solved by Awesomon2234,

HOLY ok, not bad but also not good, here are my thoughts
1. 12700k is a ripoff rn go for 13600k (more perf for less money) instead or 5600x.
2. you dont need a 360mm AIO
3. DDR5 is a ripoff rn, DDR4 is better rn and cheaper
4. 980 PRO is an expensive SSD, its fast asf but OVERKILL for most applications
5. Corsair 500D airflow is an expensive case and not needed.
6. windows licenses are expensive, i would recommend getting from a reseller.

I zeroed out the items you said you were salvaging so they are not included in the final total.
also Pcpartpicker doesnt have Switzerland as an area so it is set to US market

Intel INSANE 4k gaming and production build.
13600k better than 12700k for less. Also good for any production workloads
240 AIO (360 is NOT NEEDED)
white mbd for the white build
cheaper 1tb SSD (You can go with a 2tb SSD if needed but not 980 PRO its very expensive and you will not use its full speed, just go with the cheapest NVME drive you can get)
6800XT can run 4k or just as good at 1440p or 1080p
cheaper case, (5000D airflow is a huge case and 360mm aio isnt needed so)
Ram DDR4 Dual Rank (More perf for filling all slots only on 8gb sticks) DDR5 is a ripoff rn.
Really good pc for 1421 USD (idk in CHF as PCpartpicker doesnt have that preset)

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zp6nJM
AMD insane Gaming PC
Will not be as good in production but will be better in gaming, could switch motherboard for a cheaper b550 mbd (I recommend Gigabyte Aorus Elite, MSI mag b550 Tomahawk, or ASUS ROG STRIX b550-A gaming)

5800x3D Best gaming CPU RN (Yes better than 7000 gen)
B550 NZXT white mbd (Check above for cheaper recomendations)
*Everything else is the same

Budget (including currency): 1500 - 2000 CHF

Country: Switzerland

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly solo RPG's and a bit of APEX Legends and Overwatch 2 at 1440p - 60 to 120 FPS (my main monitor is 144Hz capable)

Other details:

Full list of the parts:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RrHXGL

Some of the parts in this list will be savaged from my current build:

850W PSU, WiFi Adapter, 3 x Noctua Fans, both monitors, and the 2 TB HDD

Good afternoon everyone.

I would like to ask you for some comments and bits of advice about the build I will make somewhere around the beginning of next year.

I'm trying to get a fairly silent, white-ish-themed gaming build.
I might switch the 3 fans included with the AIO for the Noctua fans and use the RGB fans from the AIO as case fans.

Do you think a 3070 Ti is overkill? Should I go for the same model but the 3060 Ti instead?

Let me know what you think.

Thank you very much.

Grognarrh, a newly arrived noob

So, I bought the ASRock Sonic motherboard because I had a good deal for around 200$

Does anyone has any idea if it is a decent one?

My thoughts

-AIO liquid coolers suck, go for a high end air cooler instead.

-I don't like RGB or LEDs on anything.

-A wired network is infinitely better than wi-fi, also a $5 USB nugget and that card will give you the exact same reception, it's not the receiver that's the problem, it's the transmitter.

-Noctua fans are a rip-off

-You don't have a DVD drive to read the OS installation disc.

Thanks for your comment.

So:

- Yeah, AIO might suck but I have to admit that they end up looking better than am air cooler. Personal taste.

- I like a bit of RGB 😁

- Oh you can imagine that if I had any chance to put a good old RJ45 cable to my setup i would do so...

- Noctua fans will come from my previous setup so it's fine

- I just put Windows 10 DVD in the list to remind myself to get a licence. I will install it with a USB stick.

Thanks for your comment!

Well, this is very interesting!

I see your point about the CPU. Indeed the 13600k is far better and a bit cheaper than the 12700k.

Will definitely change that piece!

I really like the case you proposed too but i found a guy selling an "expo model" of the 5000D for around 100$ which is quite a good price for that case.

Totally get the point about the SSD, I will change that to a cheaper one I think.

About the AIO, here in Switzerland the price for the 240 is around 145$ and the 360 is around 150$ so, no big difference here.

Thank you very much for your many advice!
