With silver being the most conductive metal and arctic silver being 99.9% silver then why would i consider buying any other thermal paste. Noob to thermal paste here but can there be any advantage to using any other thermal paste? Please explain.

thermal pastes are fairly similar in performance.

i used to use as-5 for many years, but retired it for something a bit more modern for my delided haswell processor.

I suggest arctic mx4 or mx-2

why?

non-conductive

no "cure" time

rated for 8 years life expectancy

good thermal transfer

great results over time.

cheap and easy to get

just use what comes with your cooler, most stuff that comes with after market coolers is okay and actually higher quality than allot of really cheap crap like whats on the Haswell chips and the stock cooler.

In all honesty, and in my opinion.  You will probably never have to change your paste due to it getting old, We are enthusiasts and change our cpu coolers every so often.

However, if you want thermal paste Cooler Master sells IC Value Thermal paste, if thats cheaper just get it.  If your able to get a better cooler because of cheaper thermal paste, thats more important imo.

theres really no difference.  Thermal paste upgrading is only necessary if you need too or if your thermal paste gets all dry and crinkled.  Some thermal pastes cost insane ammounts and its not worth it, to get Arctic Silver 5 over here costs $20!!! with that money you could buy a better fan for your cooler, a better heatsink. Having high quality stuff gives you 2-3c less in temps, spending the money on a better cooler will make more of a difference.  From the money I saved from thermal paste I'm buying an NF-F12!

tbh buy thermal paste with high silver content in it.

Also don't buy unnamed brands like below:
