forcibly signed out when trying to check notifications (Linux)

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

Be signed in

click on the notification bell at any time

What happened?

Trying out linux again on my laptop, so this is day 1 of playing around with kubuntu

When clicking on the notification bell, it will infinitely load the notifications, never actually showing any of the content. Then when clicking on anything that would reload the page (ie going into a sub forum, thread to refreshing the page) i will just no longer be logged in. It does not show any errors, it just signs me out and i have to log back in.

What did you expect to happen?

For notifications to load and not sign me out

😞

Link to a page where it happened, if applicable:

Screenshots of the issue, if applicable:

n/a

Any other relevant details:

n/a

If it's a cloudflare error, what was the ray ID from the bottom of the error page?

Signed out of what exactly?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Ah.  That happened to me too.  No idea what happened.  I signed back in and all was well though.  I assumed someone somewhere hit a button with their elbow or something.

I was gonna suggest another browser altogether. Seems like rather typical "just Firefox" issue.

i'm quickly remembering why i hate snap.

that is the most up-to-date (snap) version according to discover, so i got the most updated version straight from the website and it's working perfectly fine now.

  • 2 months later...

more or less a long issue, be it "time out" or "private browsing", if its related to contained content.
Accessing a new thing being an issue, or re-load an inactive page, sometimes it "times out" very early and you will be logged out/disconnected?

So it sounds like hitting the bell is not the issue, but when to re-load an inactive page.

This still is going to happen if using some firefox versions or settings, not sure what to enable/disable to reduce this.
