Can't remove paired device (removing device failed) how to fix?

Mark Kaine

My DS4 is kinda malfunctioning,  i think it's the Dpad, however to troubleshoot i wanted to remove and add it again,  but windows refuses to remove the device (in Bluetooth settings)

i would try to remove or disable it in device manager but there are so many usb/gaming devices... seems impossible to find the right one and i don't want to mess anything up.

So how can I fix this and why doesn't windows let me remove it?

Right click start menu and enter device manager. Locate in there, right click then properties and uninstall it.

yeah, but how do I find it? There are like 100 "hid compatible devices" (which i think DS4 is...)

Edit: ok, I paired another DS4... was super easy to remove from BT devices...

And I found the other DS4 in device manager (by checking which it is while connecting...) removed / uninstalled device, "remove failed", "device paired".

LOL

Also the other DS4 has the same connection dropouts,  so conclusion is the integrated BT is broken... i suppose?  Still weird it won't let me remove this controller,  but the other one is a ok?

Edit2! Btw the DS4 is called USB hid device... and it's not in device manager unless i connect it... doesn't stop it from being shown in BT settings and I cannot remove it whatsoever...

The thing is, i could live with that orphaned entry (even tho i hate it lol) but apparently *all* DS4 controllers have constant dropouts... so not usable at all basically (and that's why i bought a motherboard with wifi/bt, to have working bt... 😞 )

Remove failed? That was new (I think..?)

To be clear, you are using this https://ds4-windows.com/ ?

To connect a Playstation controller?

I used another software (would it kill someone to make a proper driver...) and that too was a bit meh at times. DS4 doesn't have any kind of control panel? I'm guessing if it was that simple you probably wouldn't need to make this thread ..sooo... I guess not or it wasn't useful... 😛
