I'm looking to get a CPU upgrade for my gaming rig but I get lost in al the different options.

My current CPU 4930K which is overclocked to 4.6Ghz isn't cutting it anymore. Crashes, stuttering and big fps lost in most games.

I mostly use my machine for gaming and not much else.

I also want a m.2 ssd so I can place my most played games on there(I hate loading times)

I have a 1000W power supply and 3070 and game at 1440p

13600k would be the path to go down if you're looking at upgrading right now.

X79 boards go 100$+ pretty easily so id see that cpu + board going for somewhere around 150$

Full system specs?

You likely only need a cpu + gpu + ram upgrade

Also whats the budget?

My current specs are

i7 4930k at 4.6Ghz

32gb ddr3 1600
RTX 3070
Corsair RM1000X

My current budget is arround $800(Can be more or less since my car needs some fixing)

You definitely should upgrade but I'm curious as to what issues you're having with the 4930k? That really shouldn't be having any crashing or stuttering at 1440p.

Honestly, you sure it's not something else going on? Doesn't really seem cpu related at first glance unless it's degradation. You try backing off the CPU voltage/clocks a couple hundred MHz to see if things run a bit more stable yet?

Faulty RAM sticks are also something to be concerned about. Run Memtest

if you are on a tight budget amd 5600 would be the best option, for intel the 12400/f or 12700/k but is more expensive mobo wise compared to am4

Have done that previously and no errors showed up but will try that again.

Can try that but since then I have moved said games to my ssd and haven't had any stutter.
Also I think that the crashes are more related to bad software(windows and forza).

My cpu seems stable enough in other applications.

Also my quest 2 link cable won't work on my cases usb c(3.1)
It says it's only usb 2.1 but I'm using a pci to usb3.1 adapter but it should support those speeds.

i agree, on the other hand,  the cpu is ancient,  and, no, it cannot keep up with a 3070... no way lol.

OP i would suggest anything from a intel 10 series/ ryzen 3600 and up...

you'll need a motherboard and ram too, so maybe a 11700k would fit in your budget?  not the newest, but still a beast.

 or 5800x3d for amd...

something in that ballpark.

The direction tells you... the direction
