I just hate them, the online ppm games like WoW and TESO you have to pay just to play, for me paying once to buy the games is enough, I dont wanna pay 10$ a month just to play the game that i will get bored to in a few days! I already pay 50$ for the game!! >.> I dont now about you guys but are you willing to pay 15$ a month just to play an MMORPG or would you rather wait it out until its free?

Paying monthly is stupid

Even worse for WoW, i mean TESO's graphic is good but WoW is made of like 10 polygons model.

If you don't like it don't play it. The type of people that pay per month are devoted to the game and don't plan on leaving it anytime soon. I pay a subscription to WoW and I think it is very worth it. The money goes towards server maintnence and the development of new content. Paying a monthly subscription (in a way) secures your favorite game against the likes of microtransactions.

If Valve wanted to impliment 128 or 256 tick servers in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive I would gladly pay a subscription for it, because I feel it is worth the money. If you don't like it then don't pay it.

I dont mind subscriptions that are £10 or less. The players are often more devoted to the game, and the games become more fun and interesting with less cheaters than if they were free to play.

I hate what iRacing does though. That game is just dumb.Paying a subscription, and then lots more for new tracks and cars.

That is exactly what the subscriptions are there for. To fund further development. Read over this page http://us.battle.net/wow/en/warlords-of-draenor/

Least that Warlords of Draenor is 70% better than the default WoW

I think they're annoying, especially Club Penguin... You can't do anything but walk around and talk to other people, you can't even spend the money you get for games. It's annoying.

Mmmm, no it's actually quite a nice model. It keeps supporting devs and let's the hardcore fan base basically have the game to themselves. If your not prepared to pay for WoW, Iracing TESO then you probably shouldn't be playing them in the first place. Omg, wow has 12 polygons and is so shit blah blah blah, then why are you angry about the sub if you dislike it that much. Not all games should have it, but continually developing games with more content coming have a reason to. Eve online does it as well, all valid games. If say far cry 3 or BF4 had a sub I'd be not liking it because they will give up development in a few months and work on a new game.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

I agree. Games like Planetside 2 would be a billion times better with a subscription to filter out all the... "free to play" people who just ruin the immersion. I personally do not like MMOs but I dislike free to play for the reason that it has a ton of people I have a tendency to hate. And people have been asking for the 128 tick servers to be implemented so I really hope it it in the works. I have a strong feeling it is judging by some comments (or lack thereof) at EMS.

I don’t have any huge problems with the subscription model as a concept, even if I won’t play any subscription-based games myself. The reason why is I’m likely to get burned out and take a break from a game for a couple months. And after a few months if I want to revisit the game, I’ll have to fork over another $15, even though it’s entirely possible I’ll find nothing interesting and quit again after a few days. At least with a free-to-play or buy-to-play game, I have the option to pick up and put down the game at my leisure.

I also feel like we’ve had a few examples of F2P and B2P that have done a bit better with the microtransaction system, without making you feel like you’re being squeezed for cash. I think I’d much rather play a game that stays afloat through marginal perks like cosmetic items than through a monthly fee.

One thing that irks me a little about some sub fee games is that most of them seem to be following WoW’s lead and sticking with the $15 a month model. None of those games will be as successful and get the same number of subscribers as WoW, so why not charge something like $10 a month, or maybe even as low as $5?

It's simply a business models like many different others.

And that's the beauty of the market, if it works it will stay alive.

If everyone was like you then it would be dead very soon, but it's not so you have to live with that.

We could discuss a lot about the business model but ultimately if you don't like it I am sure you will have other choices :)

Also you mentioned that you don't want to pay for something that might be boring, those kind of games usually have big and extensive trials, so that aspect is covered.

Well its quite a model for you, I am prepared to pay it but i barely get 5 dollars a week, But i am not prepared to play it as my pc utterly a trash can >.> good thing im changing soon, in hopes that good game is a one-pay-play model. Also i have a question: i've been meaning to buy Star Citizen would i have to ppm? or is it opp?

Paying monthly is stupid but if it is a game I REALLY enjoy than I'm ok with doing so. Now what pisses me off is when games like WOW make you pay 15 dollars a month AND 60 dollars for the game AND 60 dollars for each DLC pack. I mean seriously, why.

I don't particularly dislike the idea, but it needs to be rethought. Honestly I think it should be more like 1 day is used if you actually log into the game that day(maybe with a maximum of free 10 minutes before that days counts as played), instead of it passing with actual time.

EXACTLY THIS GUY GOT ME! You have to be online with the account logged in for the month to be used! Not Idling for a day you lose a day. I think that is a great idea

Used to play a subscription based game *cough* Runescape *cough* but any time when my subscription was active and I didn't play for few days it felt like I was just throwing away money.

I like it much better when I can just buy a game and play it whenever I feel like it and don't feel obliged to play if I don't want to.

This is one of the reasons I like guild wars 2. There's been a few times I've not played for weeks at a time and I'm glad I'm not effectively wasting money on an 'unused' subscription.

Don't like it don't pay it, nothing in the world is free anymore. Maybe they should charge by time though,

Archeage was planning a charge per hour model but it looks like they'll go free to play in the US upon release now.
