Headphone head pressing force

Tursiops

Hi everyone,

I'm currently rocking the bowers and Wilkins px5 and like the sound but they press on my head too strongly so I would like to replace them with something just as good but with less head crushing force.

I'm using them with my android on Bluetooth.

Thank you for your recommendation.

Tursiops.

Well that's a bit ambiguous.  Are the pressing too hard around your ears, or on the top of your head?  If it's on top, it usually means you need to extend the band more.  If it's on the sides, you can sometimes "form" the headband to yourself by leaving it spread around a larger object for extended periods.  But that generally works only if the band is metal.  Plastic bands may just break if you stress them too much.

First off, how are you wearing them?

You typically have to wear B&W stuff with the headband tilting further forward on your head than you'd think. Just put them on normally, then move the headband forward on top of your head.

If that doesn't work, you can stretch them out over time.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Is wired an option should in general be a lighter headphone All things considered. I know that I have a hard time putting on my most expensive pair of headphones and listening to them in some circumstances because they're heavier and want to just fall off other than that they're amazing

Well I must also say that I have glasses and that they press on my glasses and it hurts my ears, that's how I really notice the pressure is too strong for me. It's hard to compare but for listening at home I have a focal celestee high end headphone which has very small pressure and is very pleasant to wear, that's also why I noticed it so much on the B&W. Again comparing a 250$ headphone with a 900$ one is not fair but that's my experience.

Glasses are not equal either.  If you have thin metal temples that can be contoured to match the profile of your head, this won't really be a problem.  If you thick plastic temples that are essentially rigid--good luck.
