Does anyone know where to get some really cheap ddr3 RAM?

I need 16GB of 1333 ddr3 RAM, but the current options seem way too expensive for what you actually get. Especially given that much larger and faster RAM in ddr4 and ddr5 exists currently while ddr3 is old.

Is there anywhere to get ddr3 RAM for really cheap? Oddly, the server stuff is much larger and even supports ecc, but of course my main board doesn't support it.

AliExpress or eBay. Sometimes you can find a good deal on Amazon.

You can also check local classified sites, like Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or Gumtree.

DDR3 is still in use in many places, and 16 GB requires 4 or 8 GB sticks, which were uncommon. They've held their value because many older systems cannot use DDR4 and DDR5, yet are perfectly servicable otherwise, provided enough RAM.

Main: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti, 16 GB 4400 MHz DDR4 Fedora 38 x86_64

Secondary: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Fedora 38 x86_64

Server: AMD Athlon PRO 3125GE, 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4 ECC, TrueNAS Core 13.0-U5.1

Home Laptop: Intel Core i5-L16G7, 8 GB 4267 MHz LPDDR4x, Windows 11 Home 22H2 x86_64

Work Laptop: Intel Core i7-10510U, NVIDIA Quadro P520, 8 GB 2667 MHz DDR4, Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x86_64

eBay.

You should also be able to get DDR3 1600, which should slow itself down to 1333 if that's all your CPU supports (or you have 1333 already installed).

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I wouldn't say that 4GB or 8GB sticks were uncommon. 4GB sticks were very common in the later DDR3 years, and 8GB sticks aren't too unheard of either. They're both still readily available on sites like Amazon.

When talking about new dimms sure, but used DDR3 dropped in price a lot after DDR4 came into full swing.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Not really. Looking on eBay Buy it now, the cheapest 16GB kit of DDR3 I can find that isn't ECC is $40, compared to $27 for the same capacity in DDR4. If you're willing to go for mixed memory (buy whatever the cheapest 4GB sticks you can find are) then it comes down to $26 for DDR3, basically the same price. DDR3 has been out of production for long enough now that unless you're looking at the unusable for daily capacities (1GB, 2GB) it's dollar for dollar the same as DDR4.

Sure you can occasionally find good deals on it, but realistically unless you're spending more time than it's worth deal hunting for DDR3 you're gonna be paying the same amount you would be for DDR4 systems.

Sadly, you're a short term member of the forum, or I'd suggest putting up a WTB thread in the classified sections. Go to other forums and participate the community for the same thing. OC forums as well, probably the places to go and pay reasonable prices.

FaceBook I also source hardware because it seems people don't research, they just put it up for sale. So snag it up for cheaper on marketplace.

They are readily available, sure, but I was more referring to the massive amount on 1 GB and 2 GB sticks out there, which did plummet in value.
