I want three 1080p screens. But I will only game on the primary one for the most part. I really just like to be able to do three things at the same time like having skype on one, while I'm browsing and either gaming or doing w/e on the primary. (White text --> Also triple screen porn ;) ).

Should I go for a 780Ti or dual 770's 4GB?

EDIT: If I go single card it will be mITX, so 'upgrading' to SLI wouldn't be a thing.

Go with the 780Ti.

So 3 separate video's at once? Because I don't think there are 5760 x 1080 pr0n.

Single 770 ~ you don't need more than that for gaming on one 1080p screen ~ running 3 screens doesn't affect fps that much.

I have a single HD5870 and it's starting to lag while playing a game and watching videos in 1080p at the same time.

(I have a dual screen setup now with two completely incompatible screens)

i have a dual monitor setup with a Asus R290

i game on one monitor only and can advise that even though u may have other applications open on the other screens, your mouse will be locked within your game..

eg; the only way i can navigate to other items on my screen(s) is to ALT+TAB or hit the WIN KEY

Incompatible monitors hardly matter... I have run all sizes of monitors together in sets of 2/3/5 in the last 10 years without any problem.

HD5870 is an ancient fossil compared to the latest 770 and you will not have any problem doing your business with this card in Full HD.

Any higher is only advisable if you plan to go 1440p/ 1600p.

A single 770/280x should already be plenty and you should probably replace it instead of sli when it comes time to upgrade.

I'd suggest a 290 instead, Eyefinity is more refined than Nvidia Surround. The 290 costs the same as the 4GB 770, significantly faster and comes with three games.

And if you get the XFX 290 you get lifetime warranty.

I have an XFX HD5870, and I want to try an nVidia card this time.

I don't recommend the GTX 770 4GB, it hardly uses more than 2.2GB of vram and if you SLI it will use about 3/4GB of vram. I'd personaly go with the 290, but if you can get the 780ti go with that.

I don't quite understand. If it has 4GB, wouldn't it use 4GB? But still, I give the same answer as I did above.

Well... I don't know how to make those "spoiler boxes"

Hmh, much like with my current rig, at the time of upgrade I'll probably give it to my sister and get a completely new one for myself. But thanks for the "vote" ^_^

780, non-Ti.

AMD Eyefinity is not needed because you will not be gaming on all 3 monitors.

It gives you the 3GB of VRAM you need, at 1080p 2GB is not enough but 4GB is overkill.

At 1080p you simply do not need the "enthusiast" performance of a 780 Ti. Any game you can't max out with a single 780 won't be maxed out by a single 780 Ti either.

Except for a handful of AAA titles, you will not need SLI for max settings, and for those that do need it you can simply play at High settings and still have a great experience.

Also at 1080p it will have a slight edge on most games, games like Metro always do better on AMD cards and are the exception.

Specifically I would recommend either the EVGA Superclocked or the ASUS DC II

For the 4GB 770, the GPU's memory interface is made for 2GB so it hardly uses more than 2.2GB of it's vram... it's just made so that people think 4GB of vram is better than 2GB vram, just or money they do it...

The bus size does not prevent the card from using all 4GB of available VRAM. I'd like to know where you are getting your bs number from, claiming it will only use 2.2GB.
