Wierd ticking noise

Sometimes my pc starts making a wierd ticking sound. How can i rule out if its something important?

Check to see if there is a rhythm to the ticking noise. Check any mechanical moving parts like fans, pumps, hard drives. Disconnect and Check to see if the noise is still there. Keep repeating to see if you can isolate where the ticking noise is coming from. If you can put your ear towards the noise and try and pin point where it's coming from, you should be able to hear where.
