Better performance

Do you have any workloads that would benefit from the extra cores?

Only slightly. Been use rpcs3 for ps3 emulation. My 3700x has been doing alright, but the better IPC and more cores should help out especially with the other applications i have runninging at the same time.. I know that ryzen 7000 will support avx 512 which is even better but I don't want to switch to am5 at this time as everything else is handle just. I just figure at such a good deal it would be a decent choice.

I upgraded from the R7 3700x to my R9 5900x... I didn't get much of a difference gaming but I do a lot of video encoding and editing and the extra cores were a huge boost.  I absolutely love my 5900x.

Yes, for sure!

Not just for the core count.. probably don't need them all anyways.. but the boost potential.. then of course the IPC bump.. it will be quite noticeable, regardless of what anyone says. I went from a 3600XT to a 5600X and it was a crazy bump.. you will for sure enjoy it.

Just make sure you get a good cooler if you really want to exploit it..

I was thinking the same thing, but wanted to be sure. As for cooling it's not an issue.
