It's not a good idea to buy a placeholder gpu since there's not much of a point to buy a bad gpu now and a better one later. If you wait a month when am5 releases, you might have the full 1500

Don't use a Ryzen 4500

Preferably don't use the NZXT H510

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I mean like would you use it for? Gaming? If gaming what resolution, target fps, types of games. If not gaming, like productivity/work stuff, what type of work.

There was a typo on my post.

About id reccommend

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/cY89nt

The 12400f is the best choice since there's not much of a reason to go previous gen

Cheap cooler to keep the cpu cool

Good board for the price

Cheapest kit of 16gb ram

Cheap 1tb storage

6700xt instead of igpu?

Decent case with fans and a good 750 watt psu

sounds good

What I would recommend for 1080p 60 fps with $1500 budget, all value oriented.

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/Cz9cBj

You actually could have 1080p 144 fps with this build.

May I ask why you insist on the GTX 16 series cards?

Thing is, you don't need 12400 for 1080p budget build, I use that for 1440p ultra setting, and let me tell you that 12400 would be bottlenecked by the GPU so hard. I'd cut down to 12100 and get a better GPU, but hey, suit yourself.

RTX 3050 is only $450 AUD and is not only newer but better than the GTX 1660.

The 1660 Super is not a good buy.

The RTX 3050, 3060 and on are significantly more powerful.

The 6600, 6600XT and up are significantly more powerful on the AMD side, and the best bang for buck.

The suggested 6700XT is very likely over twice the performance value of a 1660 Super.

The naming structure is comparable. Generally the nVidia card is like 3-6% more powerful, but 20-30% more expensive.

6500 ~ 3050 (Don't buy the 6500 series for several reasons.)

6600 ~ 3060

6700 ~ 3070

6800 ~ 3080 etc.

For reference the 1660 Super was below the 1660Ti, which was below the RTX 2060, which was below the 2060 Super, which is approximately where the 3050 is in terms of gaming ability. So it's 3 direct steps down and 1.5 generations older than a current gen card. It's a significant power drop.

If you're building to a budget, the 6600/xt/6700 series are SO well priced for the performance. It's a real sweet spot. For 1080p 60FPS gaming there really aren't games out currently that are going to be a match for them.

AMD cards present a really interesting proposition: say you budgeted for a 3050, but AMD has a 3060 competitor for less money than the 3050... Then you are looking at a 3060, and there's a 3070 competitor for even less. It's how they have done business for years, except that this series of GPUs really isn't presenting a lot of reason not to buy (excepting the 6500 and 6500XT.)

~snip~

I had no idea the performance was that close! That's insane.

You can easily go to youtube and type "6600 vs 3060" or whatever you want to compare. There's lots of easy data out there.

Tbh I didn't understand what their new cards were and how they were named nor what the XT meant.

They changed their naming scheme too drastically.
