PC upgrade - need some help :)

Qraken

Hello!

Iam upgrading my long forgoten desktop PC. Ive build it my self 10 years ago but - it was a beast 🙂

Now its lacking power and the only part ive managed to add is to switch my 3 sli 780ti EVGA to 2 sli 1080ti Gigabyte - thats the only part that will stay with me :)

SO far I got - Aorus z490 Master waterforce - this Part i have at home.

As far as cpu goes i was thinking between i7 10700k or i9 10850k - i think it will be a good jump from my old warrior 🙂 4770k

and the main question is about the ram.

Here is the compabilty sheet for my motherboard - https://www.gigabyte.pl/products/page/mb/z490_aorus_master#support-doc

Its only goes up tp 3000mhz.

I was thinkg about :

DDR4 32GB 3600Mhz Corsair Vengeanse ,

DDR4 64GB 3600Mhz HyperX FURY

or similar but around 3200 ora 3600 MHZ. It says that the birs can handle up to 5000mhz but OC so will the fit?

Or it have to be native 2666 OC up to 3600?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Errm why Intel 10th gen ? 12th gen is waaay better, and a 12700K beats the crap out of a 10850K at same price...

For RAM 3200MT (CL16) is fast enough, faster ones get pricey for not much

Yeah but then you get a new 2 old year rig... Really SLI is dead, sell one of your GPUs to pay for the new parts 🙂

Why SLI? There's like no SLI support currently for anything, as it's dead. Could probably get like 600-800 if you sell both GPU's, and you could use that for a 3080 12gb or maybe 6950 XT if you spend a little extra.

I think Ryzen works with SLI too so that might be a better choice, if you really need the SLI. But I recommend doing the above and going with 12th gen

SLI cause i already have those cards : ) Unfortunatly the price in my country for 3080 I around 1/3 more even if i sell both my 1080ti 🙂

I know that SLi hasl less nad less supported games buts not all i do 🙂 - anyways the point with the 12 gen Intel is Valid will have to look at that.

But not sure my budget will handle - the i9 10850 i can get for around 180$ ,ddr4 listed above 80$, motherbord 180$ 🙂 So worth a upgrade i think.

So Pixelfle or PDifolco have a second - please answer my question about the RAM - despite the gen of the INTEL it will still bother me 🙂

Answered already : you don't even need 3600MT, 3200 is ok on Intel.

32GB is plenty enough for nearly anything except large video edit and such
