SENSE pins missing

Mehh_

Alright people, so I’ve recently gotten my hands on an MSI RTX 3090 Ti Suprim X (yes very over the top) and I realized while plugging it all in that the adapter for the new 16 pin connector on the card doesn’t have those 4 SENSE pins That’s suppose to be ontop of the 12 power pins. These 4 SENSE pins that missing from the dongle is that something That’s a problem? Can K run my GPU without those 4 SENSE pins or should I send it back to get it fixed? Or am I just stupid and these 4 sense pins shouldn’t be on the dongle?

The sense pins are supposed to tell the graphics card how much power the cable is capable of delivering to the graphics card. Having no sense pins will limit the power draw to 150W from the cable. It could be that the MSI card is not following the 12VHPWR specification and is ignoring the sense pins and isn't limiting the power draw.

Where did the adapter cable come from? Was it included with the graphics card or did you buy it separately? If you purchased the adapter separately it might have been the Nvidia 12pin connector. There is a separate 12pin connector that Nvidia used on some of their founders cards that looks similar to the 12VHPWR connector sans the sense pins.

It was the Cable provided by MSI which was partly the reason I was confused. But it should be fine then? So the card shouldn’t be limited to 150W?
