SLI Between Asus Poseidon 780 and EVGA GTX 780 SC?

Hi I was wondering if a two way sli would work between these two cards

 

Asus Poseidon Platinum gtx 780 3gb gddr5

 

 

EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC w/ EVGA ACX Cooler

Its fine, any 780 based card will work.

Yep, as long as they are gtx 780's it's fine.

Yes but it isn't recommended, you should ALWAYS get two of the exact same cards when SLIing just to be on the safe side. Plus it looks way nicer.

Also the fastest card will downclock itself to be like the slower one.

I don't believe that's true... You can run two different cards at different speeds.

 

Also, the first part isn't really even close to true, except looking nicer :D

Why would you mix them though?

 

Because some people said that the asus had a bad cooling option being both air and water, while the evga with the acx cooler is better. Now that I have some money I want to test it myself so I will have two cards, so I figured out why not trying sli instead of selling the other card

I wouldn't bother if I where you, just get 2 of the same cards. There is already plenty of tests out there on these cards.

Aah, I did a bit of digging to find that you are correct, the cards will run at different clock speeds although the fastest card is still limited by the slowest card. Thank you for pointing that out.

 

Also, what I said in the first section of my other post is more my opinion than anything else.
