This is a new build that I am going to need help with. I have deep pockets and I am planning to make a new build that will be used for rendering heavy loads and heavy gaming. I am in design and need a powerful computer. I have decided the cpu and gpu, (Threadripper Pro 3955WX and Invidia RTX 3090) and need some help finding a motherboard for both. I am only going to get one 3090 so i only need one slot for that. Once I have found a motherboard I will work on getting the other parts. Could I please get some advice for parts please?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

I don't typically advocate for waiting but

Threadripper Pro 3955WX

What's unfortunate with the threadripper series is that it has moved to OEM only and isn't getting standard upgrades anymore. We don't really know how the future generations will look, but the current 5000 series of threadrippers can only be purchased in a prebuilt. Plus there's no upgrade path.

If you need tons of memory bandwidth and money is no object, look for a prebuilt PC with one of these processors like a 5955WX, otherwise consider waiting for the 7000 series Ryzen to come out and secure a 16 core processor on the newest, fastest architecture.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

The threadripper 3000 series isnt really a great gaming chip. The 5000 series is what yiu wanna aim for but for atm its oem only.

Welcome to the forums!

If you're planning on going bleeding edge, I'd wait for next gen stuff to drop in November. Prices on current gen will drop a lot
If you absolutely need it now, here's a tossed off build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TcqNY9 (you can't get the W series outside of an OEM)

5950X/3080Ti primary rig  |  1920X/1070Ti Unraid for dockers  |  200TB TrueNAS w/ 1:1 backup
