Scanning and repairing drive every boot? Help!

CriSis_

Hi,

When I boot my pc, on the asus mobo part of the boot up, it says press any key to to stop the scanning and repair of my drive? I have let it scan it once and it almost immediately put me onto the windows home screen without a problem as though the boot was normal but I still get this message on every boot, is there anything I should be worried about? (I didnt have this problem before...)

The drive is a Samsung 980 pro 1tb and is about 6 months old on an Asus b550-e, running Windows 10.  When I shut down the pc I press shut down after closing anything and unplug it 30secs later from the wall.

Thanks for any help in advance,

Lex.

No OC's unless you count docp not to mention everything has been running stable until now. Ram is 3600mhz cl16 crucial ballistix 4 x 8gb. The pc is overheating a little while gaming atm gpu hotspot is going to 96.4 and cpu ccd0 is at 92c (rtx 2060 and a 5900x, ik its unbalanced but i couldnt get a gpu until now xD). Any ideas what the problem could be? Just to say I still get into the pc and can use without any hitches Its just I get that message every boot :9

Thats what I would have thought it was xD but I make sure anything that is open is closed and shut it down via the shutdown in the menu. I leave it for a min or so to make sure it's shut down and then unplug it 😞 .

Try disabling DOCP, leaving it to run auto. Repair windows. This kind of stuff is happening when windows get corrupted or crashing. Test to see if it still happens. 96c hotspot is normal. Not likely to be cpu temp either.

Can I ask why?

Pressing shutdown on windows 10 doesn't necessarily actually do a full shutdown - it will save the current system state to increase the startup speed.

It may or may not get rid of the problem you are having if you disable fast startup if you're going to be unplugging it every time you shut down, as it should then do a full shutdown.

that makes sense, when you shutdown via windows 10 it actually goes into hibernation so if you unplug it it sorta interrupts the drives so ignore the error/ scanning as it's normal from what i know

Ah ok 😄, are there any drawbacks other than boot speed to doing a full shutdown?

I see, any idea how I can get rid of the message or find out what it needs to repair? Even if I let the "scan and repair" run it just takes me straight to the windows sign in :9 and still gives me the msg

How's the smart data for the drive?

If you are referring to Samsung magician all seems to be well, drive is in good health and the short diagnostic scan found nothing wrong. Though when I click on the over provisioning tab it says the volume may be corrupt? (ive never clicked on the tab before and have no idea what it does or if it was enabled by default xD)
