Gigabyte RX 6800

Nobodyspecial87

I have an RX 6800 that fails to boot.  The DR.DEBUG light on MSI B550 Tomahawk is stuck on VGA with a red led displayed.  I tried the card in another PC with the same result.  I would appreciate any suggestions on how to troubleshoot my issue.  I bought the card in the US while on a business trip and it would be very difficult for me to return back there for BestBuy to RMA the card.  Thanks!

Scott

The PSU isn't amazing for a 6800, but that shouldn't cause it to not POST. If it was fully plugged in (8 pin connectors and all) and tried in two different systems, I'd say the card is likely dead and you really need to RMA it. You can try repairing it yourself/bring it to a repair shop if you think you're lucky and it's repairable, but most DOA cards I'm aware of have a silicon issue and aren't actually repairable.

Good luck to you.

Is the card brand new?

Maybe try to contact your local Gigabyte customer service and ask whether they can RMA it for you.

I contacted Gigabyte Corporate and they told me I need to go thru the US retailer I bought the card from to RMA it.  I might try a local retailer and see if they can help me out.  Stinks that a card I overpaid for, $1100, is basically trash after 4'ish months of use.  My 2nd bad experience with a Gigabyte product.  First was an RTX 2060 a few years ago.

It's sad to hear that you had bad experience with them,I used to have one of their dual fan GTX 660 and it performs well,I even sold it to a friend after 3 year and it's still work now.

Sucks, but jells with my experience of 2x  Gigabyte VEGA64 Gaming OCs, they died one after another not long after their warranties expired. Really not impressed with their GPUs at all!

OTOH, their mobos are pretty good, I have an old and basic GB Z97 mobo, as well as their awesome X570 for my Ryzem setup.
