How to know my m.2 slot is working without nvme ssd?

My motherboard was recently serviced due to bad bios ic chip. They removed it and installed a new one and wrote a new bios into it. Now my audio driver isn't working. I'm planning to buy an m.2 nvme ssd Samsung 970evo plus. I need to know if my m.2 slot is working. Is there any way to test that? I do not have a spare ssd to test

Why would it not be working?

You could enter your BIOS and see if it recognizes the slot, but you won't be completely sure unless you plug something in.
