Please someone help me with my CPU (performing poorly) (No longer I suspect it's my GPU at fault, it works fine on other rig)

Wait, XMP causes you BSOD-s although you have only 1 stick of RAM? Did you test that out on a previous bios version or on this latest one?

With Zen 2 that shouldn't happen, not at that low of speeds (I'd understand if it were above 3600 but it's not).

Is your RAM in the recommended slot for single RAM stick (per user manual)?

On this BIOS version, and yes its in the recommended slot, 3 from the cpu, last slot, i havent had any problems at 3000 mhz, only 3200

A reason more to replace the RAM.

Here's what you can also do.

Get Memory Typhoon and find which exact RAM you have.

Then open Dram Calculator for Ryzen. Choose your cpu and chipset and ram. Calculate safe timings and enter them in the bios.

I don't know. I mean I did try dual channel and that really didn't do anything. Also I am currently trying DSR, and I really don't think that's doing anything. I'm gonna try out some more titles but for now 2 of them,.I am not seeing any differences

Yeah, none of that seemed to work. I have upscaled my DSR to 1440p and nothing. Literally no difference whatsoever, gpu usage is still in the 30's and fps goes down as little as 40 at low settings, heres a screenshot 578957683_Battlefield2042Screenshot2022_09.13-16_30_45_50.thumb.png.091c4508fb3431c8d714efb37772778b.png

Tell me, did you have a topic like this some time ago?

I think I was helping someone with a similar (or same) issue months, if not years, ago on this forum.

Can you try your GPU in the second motherboard slot?

Yeah same exact problem, I had made this topic here 5 times unfortunately, I hate to keep bugging people for what seems like a simple fix but honestly I've tried to look online for years and truthfully I can't find any thing. I've done most of what's within my abilities

Check this:

I under stand not using dual channel quite literally cuts my bandwidth in half, trust me I am not downplaying that, that's a big factor in terms of performance. I just don't understand when I borrowed a friend's RAM kit, a 4 slot, and 2 slot configuration didn't do anything. I'm starting to worry if my board is messed up. Because judging how it's not my GPU that's wrong, my CPU, or Thermals, I just have no clue. I tested my GPU in his system and it worked like a complete charm. Sure, his CPU is FAR better (I9 12900K) and has a 4x 8 GB RAM config, but when it comes to part swapping and testing, It's just weird. Benchmarks don't tell me outright that something's broken (being they fall within average ranking) I have had a feeling that possibly out of all the games I play, that they are just badly optimized? Because I have yet to find a game that works well, except for Apex Legends which I've never seen dip below 144hz which is so strange to me. Thats what makes me believe I just have a weird library of games that are just badly optimized. Because Apex Legends works just fine, but it's only that game.

Check if there's a difference when you run DirectX 11 ir 12 in the same games.

Try PUBG.

Benchmarks sie your system as being ok.

Which games cause you the most issues?

Ill try PUBG and check to see if that runs well.

But boy oh boy, I hope you're in for a long list of games that run really bad, lol

Fortnite

Battlefield V and 2042 (2042 is to be expected, it's very buggy)

Phantasy Online 2

Borderlands 3

ARK

Insurgency Sandstorm

Enlisted

Some VR titles used to be VERY bad, but i haven't had that problem in a while so maybe it was just a bug?

GTA V

Sea of Thieves (I've noticed alot of people with a monstrous PC struggle to run that game, so Im assuming it's just badly optimized)

I believe that is all the ones that I can remember that causes problems.

The list shows games that aren't that GPU intensive but are CPU intensive, most of those don't need many CPU cores but need strong cores (high clocks and high instructions per cycle).

The Zen 2 CPU-s aren't known as single-core-performance monsters, especially not when limited by memory bandwidth.

If you're not doing work that benefits from 12 cores, you need to solve the RAM (any ways) and the CPU (upgrade to the Zen 3 like the 5600X, 5700x/5800X, 5800X3D that is the strongest Ryzen gaming CPU or Intel Alder lake.

You can sell the 3900x and for the money get a 5600x and ddr4 3600 cl16 ram.

It just sounds like you are misunderstanding what Channel means and such. Stop comparing to youtube videos unless you match their settings exactly. Use the old post, you dont need to make a 6th post on the issue.

having 2 sticks of ram installed in the proper slots is dual channel on x570, having 4 sticks in is still dual channel. There is Single rank and dual rank ram, its generally capacity increases with dual rank but there are other tweaks.

I never once compared my system to another's. I have a high end system and I can't get any games to run above 60 fps, you think I haven't tried putting the ram in the spots they should? I think you misunderstand my problem. This is my 6th post looking for help. 2 years I have struggled with absolutely no difference. Dual. Channel. Ram or ANY ram difference works.

do you care to post all of the relevant previous information? I'm not going to go digging through a bunch of old threads to figure out the exact issues, what has been tried, what has been suggested, ect..

I have spent all I had to get this system working. This PC is literally my only source of happiness and I've been battling it for years. I have done years of research and parts swapping and whatever you can POSSIBLY imagine. I just want it to work

Don't bother being in my replies if you can't help. I'm so desperate for help I don't care what I have to do anymore.

Everytime I do something like that, my post dies. No one comes to help, and yet I'm again to wander the endless internet for some shred of hope. When the post dies, no one cares anymore.

You don't understand I've been at this for 2 years and I've spent over 10 hours today alone trying to troubleshoot everything, naturally I'm going to be angsty. You literally do not realize all the steps and RMA's and support tickets. I don't care anymore. I'm not going to get help anyways and to be honest why did I even bother. If I had to make 6 separate posts here and I still have this problem of course I'm not going to get help this time. You all can stop replying now I apologize for wasting everyone's time

Firstly, please stop creating new topics for the same thing. A new topic won't get you any better help and will actually make it worse as nobody will have any of the history of the issue. A new topic or a new post in an old topic are treated exactly the same for the sub-forum listing, both will move the topic to the first page at the top etc.

What game is this? Just so I can go check what the expected performance of it would be on a 3070 Ti. However my initial assessment would be that you have v-sync turned on as your Render Latency is 8.8ms which equates to around 113 FPS. This would also be a cause for your GPU utilization to be less than 80%-100%.
