Any Microsoft Office Excel experts online? - How to quickly change all cells from one currency to another...

I have hundreds of cells within Microsoft Office Excel (365 version) that are in the wrong currency. For example, cell A1 might have '$350', cell A2 might have '$440' etc etc.

I need to highlight them all, then somehow convert them to the currency I want (£), however I'm not talking about exchange rates, I just mean change the dollar sign to the pound sign as they have been added to the sheet incorrectly. - E.g, change cell A1 from '$350' to '£350'.

Any help?

In regular software Excel, that currency is picked automatically based on Region Settings (Control Panel > Clock and region > Region > change date and ... , additional settings, currency ... I enter a single space because I don't want any currency symbol )

In an online thing, not sure, but I would select all cells, and find the equivalent of "Format cells" and specify format: currency, or select custom format and add that pound character to the formatting

do they have the value '$440" or do they have the value "440" and are they formatted as currency to show the "$" sign?

if it's formatting, you can just select the range and change the formatting to show £ instead of $.

if it's the values, you can copypaste the range to notepad++ and to a find and replace for $, and replace with £, then copypaste the range back into excel.

or.. y'know.. if it's got $ in the value, strip that out and replace it with formatting so that no one can bung this up in the future.

It is the values where $ has actually been added for some stupid reason (considering the context).
