windows 8.1 to 10

i will install 8.1 tomorrow and im wondering if anyone went through process of updating it to 10?

Years ago, sure. In 2022, you want to wipe that drive and clean install.

what i mean is im building new system and have windows 8.1 on dvd. would like to update it to 10 instantly and not sure how this works.

Can you get a usb stick? You can download windows 10 and make a installer for free.

yeah i could. where can i get installer? so then i use key from 8.1?

Download Tool Now

 

Put the USB stick in, run the tool, point it to the USB when asked. All done, now just boot from it, wipe the drive and install. Obviously backup any old files you'd like to keep beforehand.

unfortunately error occurs while i try to open creation tool... 

can i still install windows 8.1 and update from there?

If you have a PC that can't even open applications, updating to a new OS is just going to bring those issues along with you and you're almost certainly going to have a bad experience. 

 

It almost certainly needs to be wiped. 

You can't get access to another working PC for 20 minutes to let the tool run?

so i downloaded this tool on my main pc with windows 7 home edition. i installed it few weeks ago. for whatever reason error occurs. 

now im building another pc and instead of buying windows 10 i would like to use key from 8.1 or update it once installed.
