$500 compact build

Exactly. That's why in his use scenario he needs more RAM or a different browser. It's also why my laptop struggles with Chrome while it flies by with ease with any other browser.

The APU isn't that weak. I can play SC2, BF, and such on my laptop. It has Intel HD4000 graphics. So you're telling me a computer with a much stronger igpu is going to be a poor experience?

No. You're mistaken there.

In his stated usage, an APU makes perfect sense. APU's also are not that expensive.

The price to performance ratio is terrible with Apu's. And what do you mean that's why you struggle with chrome? If you have 50 tabs open any laptop's going to struggle and the only reason chrome uses more ram is because it uses each window as a new process creating better stability.

At higher budgets yes, which he doesn't have. If he could get an extra $100 or so then yes, a dedicated card is a better choice. If he can't, an APU is fine.

Also, if he's only looking to play games on minimum, and the computer will mostly be used for web browsing most of the time, a dedicated card isn't really even needed.

It's not an all out gaming rig. A ton of people on this forum fail to realize that during build planning.

No, any laptop will not struggle. The only thing that maxes out is the RAM. More RAM would solve that.

"Better stability". I've never had a problem with Firefox stability wise. I know why Chrome is a resource hog, it doesn't change the facts.
