Will the cooler fit?

Hello Guys,

im planning on buying a cpu cooler. My case manuel says, it can be up to 163mm high. Im currently thinking about buying one thats 160mm (including fan). Will it fit without any problems or would you recommend buying one thats less tall?

With larger coolers in a tower configuration, your fans will generally mount facing case front (side mount), which won't be a factor in height... such as my Scythe Mugen 5, pictured here... FWIW, the Mugen 5 Black Edition pictured here is 154mm total height.

What case and what cooler?

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. RIP. I was hoping it would be something more common so I could look for PCpartpicker builds using the same combo to confirm.

That's fine. A case that lists 163mm of clearance should fit a cooler up to 163mm in height.

It's an older, Fractal Define clone-ish thing. Came out around 2014 and did get reviewed by a lot of known sites (tweaktown, techpowerup, etc.) in the day.

Ok, im just gonna get that cooler and try it. Meanwhile I found out, that every retailer and even the official product page say a 165 will fit, while my (printed,lol) manual says 163 mm.Sounds a bit weird to me, but if 165 is true, I dont mind 🙂

In my experience these things usually have a little more wiggle room in real life than the specs suggest, so I think if you have a 3-5mm margin between the cooler height and what the specs say the max cooler height for the case is you'll probably be fine... as long as you don't need to push the fans up to accommodate tall RAM or anything, of course.
