Dynamic Microphone Recommendation

IRevenge

Hello dears

I'm looking for a dynamic microphone to combine with my next audio interface "Motu M2" and my Beyer DT 770 80 ohm.

My favorite in its form and sound tests is the so famous "shure sm7b", but its big flaw for me is its price. This is why Im looking for a mic with a budget of $230 maximum.

The reason why I look for a dynamic mic is to capture only my voice and nothing from the environment, such as keyboard, mouse and other noises, which compared to a condenser mic is quite a difference in this regard.

I'm just an audio buff, so... I ask because I don't know, although I can imagine some answers, but what XLR cables do you recommend with the mic, I was reading and hearing that the quality of the cable is of the utmost importance for everything to work ok and a good arm for the same mic.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, thank you very much for this discovery, I took a look at this mic and it looks amazing, I will go for it!.

What about a good arm for him? and what about the XLR cables?.

This is the style of stand/arm I use for mine,

as for cables, you definitely want good cables but honestly, theres not any that are just BETTER than others, better brands maybe but unless of course theyre home brands to a certian surplus oputlet (like sweetwater or musiciansfriend) theyre basically gonna perform the same.

some will argue this but, youre only sending the signal a couple feet so, any affordable xlr cable should do. When you start running the signal further within the cord, thats when you really need to start researching different ones. Your quality basically comes down to the mic and interface. cables are irrelevant unless yuo just WANT to buy the most expensive ones you can find lol

Cables only matter in the sense of reliability and (to some small degree) shielding and immunity to noise pickup. Find a decent-quality XLR cable, preferably something with Neutrik or Switchcraft connectors. I genuinely think that some of the cheap cables are soldered by monkeys. It makes the soldering work done by an over-caffeinated software engineering student look like quality.

By the way, 95% of the time, the "quality of shielding" isn't very relevant, since almost anything will be good enough. I've never seen it matter in a domestic Hi-Fi or recording situation.

@H713 @IAmNik Do you have any reliable international purchase link for the "Shure SM57"? I have read that it is pirated a lot and I would obviously like something original. Thank you for your answers.

Where are you located? Thomann is a big music supply overseas (UK, Germany, etc) I think maybe even SweetWater ships internationally. Not sure. Worth a check!

And yes, you can find fakes but buy from a recognize dealer (Thomann and or sweetwater) and you'll be fine, I'd check those sites first

The SM57 is alright but far from perfect. I would not spend the money on the SM57 today with all these other options around. Take a look at the Beyerdynamic M201; that's the dynamic equivalent of a condenser microphone.

If you're buying from thomann pick up the MB75 instead, it is more or less a copy of the SM57 but it's significantly cheaper and a better microphone according to the internet. I have one and it's great.

Other options:

Rode podmic

Aston Stealth

Electrovoice have some good options too.

I'd suggest taking a look at the guide in my signature and having a scroll through the podcastage YouTube channel.

YESS I completely forgot about ththe MB75 when mentioning Thomann! Lol honestly, I love Thomann. Bought one of their $150 Harley Benton guitars and amazingly, it's up to par with some of my high end guitars lol
