Best cooler for 5900x?

lwzi

I can't decide if I should get air cooler or AIO? I'm thinking about getting be quiet dark rock 4 air cooler I also have in mind noctua nh d-15 air cooler which one is better? Is there a big difference in temperatures between 70-100$ air cooler and 100-150$ AIO.

If you mean Dark Rock Pro 4 vs D-15, they are about the same.

Depends on the case.

It is easy to mount an AIO so that it gets cool fresh air just from the intake of the case, can't do that with an air cooler, which has to share the space with the gpu. But if your case has good ventilation, it is a wishwash.

Also by running an AIO as an intake, you will raise the temp of the gpu, by blowing all that hot cpu air on top of it, so truly a choose your compromise situation.

I only see your reply if you @ me.

Thermalright FC140 does well on my 5900X. Better than most.. That would be my recommendation.

AMD R7 5800X3D | Thermalright Aqua Elite 360, 3x TL-B12, 2x TL-K12
Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 32GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14
Zotac 4070 Ti Trinity OC @ 3045/1495 | WD SN850, SN850X
Seasonic Vertex GX-1000 | Fractal Torrent Compact, 2x TL-B14

I personally like the Noctua U12A. Pretty much D15 performance with way better aesthetics
