Where is Linus' studio located?

dotSlash233

LOL not to be stalking, but I'm building a studio myself in Toronto area, preferably a residential house, but I need 10Gbe networking, or at least 1Gbe symmetric internet with static IPs.

Any good recommendation? I don't want to rent a downtown office nor a condo.

There's a WANT and there's a NEED  .... you'll most likely live just fine with just 100 mbps upload, depending on what your business is. You don't need to pay hundreds of Canadian dollars each month on your Internet just because you want 1 gbps.

Live streaming uses 10-20 mbps , uploading Youtube videos can be scheduled and done over night (so you can upload a 4K video at 10 MB/s in 20-30 minutes over night), there's few things that have to be done at 1 gbps upload speed.

As for 10gbe networking ... that's up to you, it's not the job of the ISP to make your local network.  Equipment is not expensive, you can buy 10 gbps switches for a couple hundred dollars or 40gbps switches for around 1k , and network cards are cheap, under $50 each for a 10g card.

@mariushm thank you for you tips. but I'm pretty sure I need symmetric 1Gb or 10Gb networking. My homelab is fully 10Gbe, so I kinda know what I'm talking about.

I will try to contact Equinix for more information then.

I think the point @mariushmwas making is that internet connect =/= internal network connection.

Your machines are talking to each other at 10Gb, they're not talking to the web at those speeds (unless you're paying thousands of $CAD/pm).

I do understand different between Internet and Intranet, WAN and LAN.
