Help me choose an AIO

MicroRuben

So guys, my current AIO is dying and I need to buy a new one and I would like some help choosing.

I run a 5900x and I'm currently looking at:

- Lian Li GALAHAD (149.90€);

- Fractal Design Lumen S36 (119.90€);

- Fractal Design Lumen Celsius+ S36 (129.90€);

- Corsair iCUE H150i Pro XT (153.90) Is there a way of running the RGB through my board and not iCUE?;

- I would even consider EKWB Elite (219.90) if the price justifies it;

Every one of these is a 360mm and i'll mount it on front like I have mine at the moment. I didn't consider air cooling since I love how AIOs make the PC cleaner and didn't consider Artic Freezer AIO since I find it kinda ugly even if it's one of the best AIO.

Help me out choosing what's best for me or even other products.

Thank you!!

Arctic was my choice, but I didn't want any RGB. The Galahad looks like the best choice for you though.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

Yea, I saw that video a long time ago it's really good. Do you know where the pump is on the Lian Li one? I don't want to end up like now, i'm using a MSI MAG CoreLiquid 360R front mounted and now I hear the rad everytime my PC starts and I get really high temps doing anything lol

There's currently an active recall on the MAG CoreLiquids.@GuiltySpark_got another one. Dunno if you're keeping track of them still or not. If you're not I'll stop tagging you in these.

Says it's in the CPU block.

Much past that, I don't know much about it without watching a GN video on it.

Ha, no please do! I haven't actually been tracking them anymore ever since the official recall but its still super interesting to me for some reason.

@MicroRubenI'd check this out and throw your serial number in to see if you're affected.

Did you by chance see what's causing it or no? Seems like they're all failing around the same time. Leads me to think hosing breaking up or coolant degrading.

If someone that has enough post count has an issue with these, I might be curious enough to buy one from them if they can't or won't warranty it to see if I can figure it out.

I already saw that too and unfortunately I am not affected. My pump is failing tho lol. I bought it in January last year, and probably built it around February so it's really early for it to fail? This is exactly what happens when i turn my PC on

Since I built mine on the front with tubes facing up I imagine it's because of trapped bubbles? Except I don't hear a thing and never did. People usually have problems when placing the AIO on the top

Its funny, I actually had someone in the LTT discord offer to send me theirs but I didn't take them up on it. What exactly the material is that's doing the clogging i'm still not sure. The only time i've seen it is in that Greg Salazar teardown video.

Am I just dumb or does that appear to be top mounted, not front mounted?

It is top mounted but it's another guy, not my PC. I was just saying as an example of what's happening to me x)

That's not bubbles. That sounds more like the pump cavitating horribly or the pump fins coming apart to me. With where the pump is at on that AIO, with a front mount that would mean you'd have to have lost a lot of coolant to cavitate like that, so I'd lean towards impeller coming apart. The video sure looks like a top mount, which would make it easier to cavitate the pump. It's on the back of the rad so it wouldn't really take a lot. Still sounds like a FUBAR impeller to me.

I know I wouldn't be able to do anything with the knowledge, but I'm still curious. Not like I'd be the one to redesign the AIO. I didn't see the Greg video, but his actually looks like gravel in it.

I haven't seen anything bad with the Galahad. The Arctic would be my first choice, and is available in RGB unless it's the CPU block that you don't like the looks of. The Galahad came out in October of last year. The MAG Core came out in 2020. It took 2 years for the issues with that to pop up. The Liquid Freezer has been out since 2018 and doesn't seem to have any issues with it really. It seems like the Freezer ii has some QOL changes over the original. Fans and cooling I tend to go form over function. That's just my $0.20 before the TLDR.

If I were going for an RGB build, but not the Arctic, I would have more than likely gone with the Lian Li.

I use a Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 240 for my 5900x, in an NZXT S340 case and it keeps it cool. Highest I've measured was 80c during a spike, but average temps during hours of heavy load settle around 73c for me.

With that said, if you're looking for something that looks good, any 360 AIO should do the trick.

NZXT S340 | Ryzen 7 5900X | B550 AORUS PRO V2 | TridentZ RGB 2x8GB 3200 | RTX 4070
Nintendo Switch (2x), Nintendo *New* 3DS, PSP-1000, PSP-2000 (Crisis Core Limited Edition)

MacBook Pro 14 (2021), 16GB RAM, 512GB ROM
