Can I declare this USB Flash Drive Dead?

Go to solution Solved by Supersonicwolfe,

Yeah... especially it still deletes weirdly... Bye Bye TransMemory, you are unworthy of USB 3.0 badge anyway.

So I have a Toshiba TransMemory 32GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive which had a bit problem yesterday (drive stopped responding when deleting files). So, I unplugged it and plugged it back in, it was detected but not responsive (no capacity etc), not until 2-3 minutes later. After regain access I done a chkdsk and moved all files out, then done a full format (without fast formatting). File system is NTFS.

But now it seems not working properly, the transfer speed bunces up and down form 12MB/s to 5MB/s to even 0 when transfer a large movie file (14G). Average response time jumps around as well from 43 ms to 550 ms to 1000+ms

I also tested with Crystal Disk Mark, it reported good read speed (100MB/s +) but very poor write speed (it wasn't good when its new)

I guess I probably should toss it? It was free gift from a conference anyway, and I have several better drives laying around.

Just throw it away. If it suddenly dies you will lose whatever you put on it. Its not worth potentially losing data on something that doesnt cost alot to replace.

I treat flash drives as disposable. That one isn't worth trusting, just bin it.
