Go to solution Solved by ccik,

Thanks for your replies and help.

My friend wanted to get this done ASAP, so we just visited the builder. We then got a slightly different sytem (although without GPU). I don't remember all the details and brands, but here are all the basics. We got all this for 650 EUR:

3800x + Cooler

MSI X470

Samsung EVO+ M.2 NVME 1 TB
32 GB DDR4 RAM

EVGA 850W PSU

Be quiet! Case + Accessories.

We then went to a local electronics store on a hunch, and actually got a MSI RTX 3060 TI for 720 EUR. So thats 1370 EUR for the complete build.

Hello,

A friend of mine has no knowledge of hardware, but wants a new PC for his kid (14 years), which he also intends to use for some gaming himself. He asked me for some help. A prebuild would be fine, i already found a system that could fit, but wanted to ask for some opinions.

Budget (including currency):  ~EUR 1500

Country: Germany

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Not sure what exactly his kid wants to play, but i assume something like Fortnite for now, with the possibility for some AAA titles down the road. My friend wants to get into Simulators like DCS again, so this should run as well.

Other details: Keyboard/Mouse/Speakers are available, as well as a somewhat new 1080/60Hz monitor. A switch to a different monitor (1440p/144Hz) should be possible in sometime down the road.

Here is a prebuild system i considered for them. The builder lives locally, so i could basically go right now and pick the system up.

AMD RYZEN 7 3700x
Samsung EVO+ M.2 NVME 1 TB
32 GB DDR4 3200 MHZ 2x8 GB
MSI GEFORCE RTX 3060 TRIO / 12 GB
MSI X470 GAMING PRO
850 WATTS PSU (Vendor unkown)
Thermaltake Level 20 Chassis

Windows 10

Price: 1500 EUR

Anything wrong with the system, or some components that do not make much sense?

I didnt even notice that the cheapo drive had bumped to 100€:s, it was under 70€ yesterday. And that gpu price was too good to be true also in true pcpartpicker style. Its sold in amazon by some 3rd party, amazon is 100€ more expensive so avoid that random seller with 1 feedback.

It's okay, you could get better parts though. For AAA gaming, I would actually recommend at least going 8 cores, 32GB ram and then best GPU you can afford. I would got intel 10700 over Ryzen 7 3700x. Example build:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i7-10700F 2.9 GHz 8-Core Processor  (€267.25 @ Computeruniverse)
CPU Cooler: Scythe FUMA 2 51.17 CFM CPU Cooler  (€66.89 @ Alternate)
Motherboard: MSI MAG Z490 TOMAHAWK ATX LGA1200 Motherboard  (€121.65 @ Computeruniverse)
Memory: Team T-FORCE DARK Za 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  (€117.60 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Storage: PNY CS2130 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  (€87.14 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Video Card: Palit GeForce RTX 3060 Ti LHR 8 GB Dual Video Card  (€695.99 @ Alternate)
Case: Silverstone FARA R1 PRO ATX Mid Tower Case  (€85.89 @ Caseking)
Power Supply: Enermax Revolution D.F. 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  (€89.90 @ Amazon Deutschland)
Total: €1532.31

Might need a GPU upgrade for future AAA gaming though.
