Not all CPU cores showing up in task manager

Go to solution Solved by Middcore,

The FX8320 isn't actually an 8-core CPU. It's closer to a 4-core with hyperthreading with a weird design which AMD marketed as an 8-core. AMD actually lost a lawsuit over the misleading marketing for those chips. If you Google for "FX 8320 task manager cores" you'll find many results about this. I believe task manager showing 4 cores is normal for this chip.

I have a Amd FX8320, 8 core 8 thread. But only 4 CPU cores are showing up in windows. I've tried change the processor core amount in the msconfig boot window. but it doesn't work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

It will show 4 cores and 8 threads. It should also show 8 graphs. If not, then something is wrong. If it's just one graph, right click on the graph and somewhere should be an option to show per-thread graphs.

Yep, sounds like everything is as it should be (to the extent that's possible on an FX chip 😉)
