DVR/NVR Password typed wrong?

I got some Hikvision DVR's that we forgot the password for, my question is what happens after typing the password wrongfuly 3 times? Since it says I have 3 tries.

I'm not looking to reset it, I'm really curious what happens after typing it wrong for more than 3 times. Does it permanently lock up and cameras stop working? Can I retry guessing the password in few hours? or what does it do exactly if I misstype the password 3 times. Thanks.

Try to find a user manual for that model online and it'll likely be mentioned there.

Usually that means the account gets locked out for a period of time (commonly 15 minutes) as a basic security measure against brute-forcing the password.

Thanks for the replies. So it got locked for like 30 mins and then I could retype another password. As it was locked, the cameras would still work.

I tried guessing the password and eventually on my 7th try a password worked and I got the access to the menu pannel.
