Large amounts of packet loss when gaming over a MOCA network

Yeetrich

Hi like it says in the title I game over a MOCA network because due to a few reason it is not possible to run an ethernet line from my router to my computer.

The issue is that often when I am gaming (1-2 an hour) I will experience 5ish second of full packet loss that often sends me back to the games lobby.

Right now I am using this adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08ML634YB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

with this filter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011SIE5EE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

but it doesn't seem to be stable enough. Would it be beneficial to upgrade to some like this for a more stable connection https://www.amazon.com/Fios-Wi-Fi-Extender-E3200-Verizon/dp/B082GH52QG?

Or am I just doing something else wrong

So many possibilities, the setup should work.  Have you tried it with out the filter?

The filter is required. If the coax is also being used with cable/internet the filter is required to ensure your traffic doesn't get out on to the ISP's network. ISP's hate interference.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I did used to have no filter and it was worse. It might be just a poor quality coax in my wall, I live in a large multi fam building and I dont know how old the cables are and cannot run new ones

Its highly suggested you use RG6 cabling with Moca. So if you have older coax that could be the issue. From what I have read the filter stops the Moca signal from getting out of your home and reflects it back in to the network making it stronger.
