How/when should I put my side panel on my PC when it is on?

LTTFan16538228

So I just wanted to open my PC to give it some airflow.

Now when I want to close it, I am worried if I short something out when it is on. It is on my desk and I am unwilling to take it off my desk.

Should I close it when it is on? Should I turn it off and then put the side panel on? Thanks to anyone who answers to me.

Just put it back on. It's probably painted so it won't short anything, even if falls off your hands and bumps against something. Put it back on, you're fine.

It is not painted from the inside, actually. That’s why I am concerned that it might short something. This is what it looks like from the inside

What is it touching that you think it will short out? If the PC ran with the side panel on before, and you haven't changed anything, then it will be fine.

If you're that worried, just shut down and then put the panel back on.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

There is zero chance you would short out your PC by putting the side panel on.

You may want to shut the PC off before putting the panel on if you're going to have to move the system while it's running.

I do this all the time. Like what tech said, there should be absolutely no reason your pc will short out unless you, for some reason, shoved the side panel into the pc components. At that point, I'd be more worried about physically damaging the parts over static shock.
