I want to run Linux on my DNS-320L

So yesterday I found an old NAS in my garage, it turns out to be a D-Link DNS-320L. It's used to be my father's, then he started using an AirPort tower a few years ago, and this NAS ended up in the garage. He lost the power brick and I took the SATA drives out to use on my PC. I looked at the empty shell and realized I maybe can run Linux on it. But there's no easy way. In the various sources listed below, there is no proper way of accessing the eMMC memory and modifying the system without voiding my warranty with soldering. Which basically means it's either flash or trash. I don't care about warranty since this NAS dosn't have much value anyway, but I am such a beginner with soldering that I want to keep it at a mininum. I feel like this NAS could be my subsitute of a raspberry pi. However, I heard that I need to make a custom kernal image with custom drivers, but I didn't like the sound of that. I am not good with messing with software, and is there a way to put a NORMAL linux distro onto it? It has no sd card slot, just an ethernet jack and a USB slot. What should I do?

No, any distro you could just flash would have to be made specifically for that hardware and it doesn't seem anybody has made one. Your best bet is to follow one of these guides.
