vary slow wifi ac?

I have a D-Link DIR-859 and even though I'm getting my 500Mbps service from the ethernet ports on my router I can't get more than 30Mbps through wifi.

The throughput of the router is 1300Mbps for 5Ghz, my M1 MacBook Air has 1200Mbps, iPhone XR 1300, granted that these numbers are for in an ideal environment but shouldn't I still be seeing higher numbers? The router and devices are in line of sight and about 10ft from each other, and nothing in between them. I feel like I'm spinning my tires with this, even went as far as to reset the router. Any thoughts and ideas would be awesome!

  1. Watch this video and adjust your expectations. The numbers you quoted are just for advertising, not real-world speeds.
  2. Run a wireless survey using WiFiman (for mobile) or WiFi Analyzer (for mobile or PC) and post screenshots of your 2.4GHz and 5GHz spectra. Highlight the SSID you're connected to.
  3. Post screenshots of the wireless settings on the DIR-859. Hide any passwords.
