Cpu problem

So I just did this to my cpu, I was trying to open it and it opened like that.

 

Did I do something wrong or was it like that at the first place (no motherboards would show sign of life when this cpu was in the socket)

 

Is it fixable?

OH GOD.

 

No, it's dead Jim. That's a soldered on heat spreader that you just ripped off. The actual CPU Die got destroyed. It might not have been dead before, but it's dead now. 

 

You don't "open" CPUs unless you're trying to do extreme overclocking and know what you're doing.

It wouldn’t work either ways so I tried to open it to see if there would be like any visible dead chip I could replace in order to fix it.

Thanks for the advice I’ll know not to open my cpu next time, would much rather sell as dead
