GPU Problems after vacation

dsong98

Preface: I already solved my issue, but am curious as to what happened.

I visited my parents for a week for the holidays and when I returned to my apartment and booted my PC, my second (of two total) monitors would not detect a video signal (Radeon 5700XT). When I tried to open AMD Software to see if I could reset my GPU driver from there, I got this error: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-300

I ended up just uninstalling my driver and reinstalling and my second monitor can get a signal again. For some reason, the second monitor was able to get a video signal for a brief moment after I had uninstalled my driver, and was in the process of downloading the new driver software (had not installed the new software yet).

Anyone know what caused these issues? And how come the second monitor was able to get a video signal for a brief moment?

Addition: I had previously had the most up-to-date driver software.

... initially read as 'GPU Problems after vaccination' lol

My best guess - Windows10 updates. Had many surprises throughout the years on my previous setups with surprises like booting into recovery screens all of sudden.
