Well, considering even windows 10 has bugs.

So far I have been using 11 on my 9900k and 6700k with no issues with how I use my machines.

So far the bugs I had during the beta release were fixed with windows updates without me needing to do anything other than updates run.

The way bugs are fixed are no different than previous versions.

I would say go for it, but people's opinions on this vary.

You can image your current install with something like Acronis. That way you can upgrade and give it for a spin for a while. And then if everything is working fine you can just delete the backup or restore it back if you want to revert.

Been using 11 since well before it was officially available through the insider program on a 7th Gen Intel XPS 13 and on my 5800x system and i'll be honest, sometimes I forget its a different OS. Its basically the same thing, I haven't noticed any "bugs" besides normal Windows things that existed in 10.

I don't use it anymore, I use Linux now, but when I had it, even the unsupported hardware ran pretty good!

A recommendation though, is to clean-install.

I upgraded and it somehow wrecked the Windows registry. I had to reinstall Windows

Lots of us upgraded fine.  I even upgraded from 7 to 10 and only reinstalled because I built a new PC.

Like everything else, its just a lottery, it usually will be fine but wont always be.

No issue here as well. That said, Windows 11 has not reached "general availability" status, meaning, it's not available to all yet (ignoring force upgrades. I meant showing up under Windows Update), and enterprise edition of Windows 10 doesn't have it. So, in other words, Windows 11 is still in it's "soft launch" status

So if you seek for the most reliable build, certified Microsoft for production, it's not there yet. Should be early next year.

Windows 11 new taskbar is missing some functionality, but I think you know them, and yes, Microsoft is working on them. Microsoft acknowledged the limitations, and you can enjoy some improvements if you are an Insider today. So, we will see when these improvements comes out. Probably with the next version of Windows 11 release, end of 2022.

No issues in terms of breaking bugs or usability. Only problems I have are UI related to the taskbar and start menu

For The Taskbar, I use a utility called Explorer Patcher which gives you way more control over the taskbar compared to the reworked way in Windows 11:

https://github.com/valinet/ExplorerPatcher

Then for Start Menu, I use Start11, 5$ for the app, but worth it IMO compared to the junk you get by default.

If there is no reason to update, that's the reason not to update 😄

Besides some GUI annoyances I have nothing to complain about. The only reason I updated was to check compatibility with some programs.

But there are some bugs like the drive-speed-bug that can occure and are not fixed yet (insider build has patches I think), therefore: If you don't have to update -> maybe wait for the next bigger update-wave.

That's far too general a question. Of course it has bugs. Every OS has bugs. I haven't had any issues with it but that doesn't mean you won't.

No issues here, fresh installed 5 weeks ago on unsupported hardware. Using ExplorerPatcher for the taskbar, start menu I don't bother since I essentially never use it.

I upgraded home PC during preview period and had no issues (I just moved the start menu back to the left - that's configurable without any 3rd party software), then on GA I did my work laptop and work desktop - still no issues. These were all upgrades from Win 10 - no clean install.

Working on a new rig for home which will be my first Win 11 clean install.

Nothing to fear from my perspective - like someone else said you can't really tell the difference. I think a lot of the work has been done under the hood for Alder Lake support.

It surprises me people fret over the start menu as like you, I hardly touch it.  Anything you use daily is on the taskbar, same on Linux.

I still feel 11 has less controller latency than 10 did.

Probably. I have not used a Windows without bugs.

Like any other Windows I guess...

I can probably give you reasons why not to use any Windows, but I prefer 11 to 10 and back for the most part.

The major reason to update for me was AutoHDR, it makes SDR games look so much better.

Yeah me too. Also the fact that I messed up my Windows Store folder lol and needed a reinstall anyway.

Oh yeah I forgot that one, that was another reason my new build was a good thing as Microsoft Flight Simulator refused to update or reinstall on my old machine.

I particularly love how sometimes when Windows Store breaks you can't remove stuff any more and the permissions mean you have to format the entire drive its on to get that space back.  Even from Linux it says those folders are inaccessible and can't be deleted.

Lets not get dramatic. Its a terrible system, for sure, but you can absolutely manually delete/access the WindowsApps folder.

No. You can manually format the drive but removing it is a horrible nightmare. Taking ownership does not always work depending on what you have installed. Some of the games are installed there as sym links or whatever and it doesn't appear to work on those titles.

Haha yeah. It's a big big mess and it's best to stay far away from the MS Store lol. Purge it, purge it with fire.
