mac mini 2014 4gb

I think about buying the mac mini 2014 4gb ram and upgrade it from HDD to SSD 
now my main rig is my laptop with intel gold 7505 8gb ram.

my tasks is web programing with VS Code react express nothing too powerful 
will they be the same in performance ?

Id stay away from anything with 4 gb of ram these days. 

 

Also that system has lost support for new macOS versions, so its gonna lose security updates very soon.

 

Do you need macOS? You shouldn't need macOS to do web programming.

Still, though, don't bother OP unless you also plan to upgrade the RAM (and at that point I'd recommend getting the 2018 or M1 Mac mini).

OOPS, it will probalby not get any future updates then, 2014 is about the cut off for new os updates.

 

Also I worry that intel macs will lose software support much faster than arm ones. They already have features that are arm only, and third party devs will probably move most of the effort into testing and deving for arm soon.

it is impossible to upgrade the ram. so it is better to stay with my laptop on 7505 ?

Your 7505 is probably a lot faster then the 4260u in the base model 2014 mini. It is 6 years newer, has higher base clock, higher boost clock and more cache
