BIOS won't load, PC won't boot after BIOS update

madethemove

Z590 Aorus Master motherboard

I updated the BIOS version from f3 to f6 from the gigabyte website. After performing the update, the system restarted, and had not come back for over an hour. After trying to boot again, PC will not load anything. No GPU, no BIOS, anything at all. It cycles through like it's trying to post, but then just cuts off and leaves my rgb fans on but nothing else.

Any clue what I can do here? The lights come on, it shows it "cycling" through codes, but does nothing after about a minute and just shuts off.

I had this happen with my HP laptop, unfinished BIOS updates seem to be popping up now. Mine got part way through the image write and then just shut off and never turned back on. A friend of mine had the luck that when he powered it back on it just resumed from where it was at and finished.

Sounds like the BIOS chip is bricked 😓...

Have you tried clearing CMOS before trying to start the PC? Maybe remove all but 1 RAM stick? These two methods have made my own PC POST again after not being able to POST. I don't think it will help you but if I were you, I'd give it a try.

Tried the CMOS and RAM ideas. Neither worked.

I just got done swapping to my other MB. I'm guessing I can send this to gigabyte for warranty?

Sorry to hear it did not work...

Yes, I would say an RMA would be easily justified. But if you bought the motherboard from a retailer - and not Gigabyte - maybe Gigabyte won't take the motherboard in. You might have to go through the retailer where you bought the motherboard.

I have the same problem. The solution is to remove the memory in A1 & B1 and then try. Or remove A2 & B2 and then try. My board then boots after a few attempts. Sometimes you must load defaults first. I RMA'd my board, it came back no trouble found. I'm on BIOS F5 but if I flash to F6 the problem returns. It will BOOT with 2 sticks in but not 4.

I can put 2 sticks in, boot and then go back to F5. After I get it to boot and set XMP I can then insert the other 2 sticks og mem.

This happens with my G.Skill 3200 kit which is not on the QVL list and also with G.Skill 3600 F4-3600C16Q-64GTZR which is on the QVL list.

The board appears to be very picky about the RAM used.

Let me know if the above helps.
