Budget (including currency): 1500 euro

Country: Netherlands

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Bf 2042 and other games.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Processor amd ryzen 5800x, motherboard gigabyte b550 aorus elite ax v2, ram Ballistix DDR4 2x16GB, case corsair 4000d airflow.

My question is whether the cpu cooler will fit with the ram on the motherboard.

Ballistic DDR4 modules are ~41mm tall. With the outer fan in its normal mounting position  module height is restricted to 32mm under the fan. However, the fan will not obstruct all memory slots, so there may be no problem with a two stick kit. Also, it appears that the case has sufficient clearance so that the fan position can be elevated the necessary 9mm. Worst case the outer fan can be removed. Performance will be slightly degraded, but not unduly so.

Case and motherboard compatibility are easily verified using the Noctua compatibility tool. https://ncc.noctua.at/coolers/NH-D15-2/motherboards

Says it will fit a cooler of 170mm so it should fit the NHD15 which is 165mm

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

Ram height is not an issue.

Whether you can use a second fan is.

I bought 3 NHD15s in 2017 and 18 and the 2016 cases they went into allowed for the second fan to fit over the ram. On my 2020 cases only one fan fits.

That turned out to be fine with an overclocked i7 8086k and an i9 9900k but not for an i9 10900k.

The cooler with the ram height issues is the be quiet Dark Rock Pro 4.  Corsair Vengeance rgb does not fit but G.Skill Ripjaws V Series does.
