yeah i get this.... might only be skin deep...

when i first look at the desktop screen of windows 11 and chrome os and the right click functions available in both, thats where i get the impression its just a re-badge/ reskin...

so disregarding all the issues for windows 11

you know like:

- gpt secure boot isssues

- ryzen performance hits

- ryzen install and/or update issues

- failure to rebuild dated root certificates on various apps (snipping tool etc)

Does anyone else feel like windows 11 is just a re-badged/ reskinned chrome os?

i look at my sons school laptop ( a chromebook) then watch these win11 video's and all i see is microsoft skinning of chrome os...

i mean we know the new Edge is based on Chrome, so why not the operating system as well.

would save a lot of money on developers too, just having some one change out the icon images 🤣🤣🤣

Chrome OS can't run all my apps like Windows 11 does, so no.

Also none of your 4 points apply or still apply?

What issues? On a GPT system it boots fine.

really?? then i just must be really unlucky....... because i still can not install windows 10 21H1 or 21H2 or windows 11 on a ryzen 5 3400G ESPECIALLY in a GPT configuration.

are you sure?? because i havent seen any desktop builds or gaming equivalent builds of a chrome os based system, they just appear to be regulated to office and simple browsing/ email type style systems.... in other words dont have the same hardware to compare too

it also doesnt mean that windows didnt add there own convuluted soup to the code...... (like they did with uft-8 i think it was, because people were wondering why their uft-8 code wouldnt work as expected on windows but would work on other things )

Then you must be doing something wrong, GPT has been the default for several years at this point. Nothing wrong with it.

Yes because that's what it's made for. Chrome OS just runs Chrome web apps, android apps and some linux stuff. It got a bit extended with the latter with time but the original goal of Chrome OS was "you boot, you get a Chrome browser connected to Google cloud services and you do everything in that".  You're not going to be running any of the mainstream desktop stuff you have on Windows.

That seems completely irrelevant.

ok so far only these statements have actually been close to relevant to my  actual question......

the ones that were irrelevant

still irrelevant but seeing as the only thing people are seeing red on ( in this thread ) are the issues people had :

AS for the GPT  on my system well windows 10 versions 1803, 1903, 1909 and 2004 all worked in GPT mode....

upgrading  mode from 2004 to the next one became an un-upgradable boot loop

attempting fresh installing windows version 21H1 or windows 11 using several different USB sticks, gave Blue Screen crashes

- the only type of win10 21H1 or windows 11 install i havent tried is the rebuilt version that allows MBR install..

but OK

ChromeOS is not what I call a full desktop OS. It relies deeply on the cloud to function. All Windows 11 is, is Windows 10 with a lot of changes. If Apple didnt go from OS X to OS11 and now OS12, its likely these changes would have rolled out as a creators update for Windows 10. But Apple had to change the version number so Microsoft seemed obligated to do the same.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
